Gu Tidong enlisted in October 1982 and served as squad leader, platoon leader, transport assistant, transport section chief and equipment section chief. In 2002 he chose his own career path and went to a poor mountain village in Laiwu to help with poverty relief. In August 2013 he went to Wudang to study its wellness culture in depth, developed a simple, lasting approach to natural wellness, and continues to study Zhang Sanfeng's taiji dandao.
