3. 六三：比之匪人。

Holding together with the wrong people: the third line, at the unsteady top of the lower trigram, finds only weak, unsuitable companions around it. The Small Image cries, “is it not harmful!” Withdraw from this alliance. Closeness itself is not a virtue; whom you bind yourself to decides what wounds you share.

4. 六四：外比之，贞吉。

The fourth line stands right beside the ruler and turns outward to him. The Small Image explains: “holding with the worthy outside, so as to follow the one above”. At this threshold, advance openly toward the leader you respect, and stay steady; an honest, visible allegiance is safer than quiet hedging.

5. 九五：显比。王用三驱，失前禽，邑人不诫，吉。
